The Welsh Wildlife Centre
Cilgerran, Pembrokeshire
The Welsh Wildlife Centre is a great place for parents to bring children, whether it’s outside letting loose in the Adventure Play Area and exploring the 4 Nature Trails; or inside doing activities in the Learning through Play area (with drawing, colouring and quizzes) or just watching Wildlife films or Live Webcams from Skomer island (home to Puffins) and Teifi Marshes outside.
It’s a place too where families can really slow down, but have so much fun together; immersed in an unspoilt natural setting where there are so many habitats to explore all in one place; on foot or by bike; and an ever changing list of planned activities; both indoors and outdoors, including pond dipping, listening to bats, bird ringing and meeting owls.
And, by the late Summer and early Autumn, not only will you be able to hire binoculars and explorer packs to make even more of your discovering, but an Osprey Platform, a giant Wicker Sculpture will be there too!
Then after working up an appetite, relax with fabulous food, high up in the Glasshouse Cafe with stunning views across the nature reserve to the river; or just find a secluded spot for a picnic, maybe right down by the river.
Finally, on your way out, pop in to the gift shop, full of wildlife memories and things to support wildlife when you get home. You may even want to get a family membership; a great way to stay with them protecting wildlife.
